2011: A Big Year for Me!

Hi lovelies!  Did you have a good Christmas?  I definitely did, but more to come on that later :)  I wanted to get in one last post before the new year and share with you my 5 highlights of 2011 :)

1. I graduated from college. Then I moved to New York, leased my first apartment and started a real job!  Those are all pretty major life changes- as my sister said, “You’re like a real person now!” haha :)

2. I wore red lipstick! A year ago, I would have been way too afraid to put on red lipstick and leave my house.  Now I’ve found a couple of shades that work on me and I love how glam I feel with some lipstick on.  I’m proud of myself for trying something new in the beauty department and here’s to expanding my lipstick collection in 2012!

3. I met these lovely ladies and other great bloggers. In June, I attended my first blogger meetup in Connecticut and had a really good time hanging out with Lydia, Amber, Courtney, and Megan.  Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with Alex (who is awesome btw :) several times, as well of meeting some of my favorite bloggers, including Mel of Une Vie Geniale and Keiko of Keiko Lynn.  I can’t wait for the next blogger meetup!

4. Fashion Week in NYC. Fashion Week in September was a crazy/awesome time.  I had the opportunity to attend some really fun events like the Stranded Blogger Meetup, ModSwap, and Blogger’s Night Out, as well as had my first Fashion’s Night Out experience.  I was exhausted after that whirlwind week, but would do it all again in a heartbeat.  Maybe next time I can attend one of the blogger conferences!

5. The Grand Opening of my Etsy shop. It was something I had been wanting to do for a while and once I finished school, I finally had more time on my hands.  My little shop is still growing, but one of my new year’s resolutions will be to improve on my shop and get more sales!

Tell me: What was your favorite part of 2011?

I’m just want to take a moment to thank you all for your support this past year!  I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that there are some people out there who actually want to read what I say :)  Happy New Year to one and all!  I hope you have a blast celebrating and I’ll be back with lots more posts about the holidays and more after the new year! :)

Coach and Vogue Holiday Party

all photos either taken by Alex or myself

When Alex told me about the Coach and Holiday event with The Man Repeller, I was pretty excited to check it out!  I had never been to the Coach store on Madison Ave, which was really large and filled with all sorts of lovely Coach items. There was many a purse that I wanted to take home with me, but sadly they are out of my price range.  While we wandered around the store, Alex and I sipped on champagne and nibbled on the various treats they were passing around.  And of course, we picked up our custom monogrammed tags!  We ended up choosing the same color scheme (navy tag with silver writing), so now we have matching Coach tags, which I think is pretty fun! :D

Only a couple more days until the big day!  For those who celebrate, I hope you have an absolutely wonderful Christmas and I’ll be back after the holiday! :)

Sponsor Spotlight: Flowers From Fatima

If you haven’t yet visited Flowers from Fatima, you definitely should!  This etsy shop is run by the super sweet Fatima, who designs handmade floral accessories for all occasions.  She says that she is inspired by “love, natural beauty, and Mother Nature.”  I love the Frosted Orchid Flower Hair Comb as a special piece to adorn your hair for a winter party!  Or, maybe it’s summer where you live now, in which case this Golden Sunflower Hair Comb would be just perfect for those warm, sunny days!  Fatima has kindly offered my readers a 40% off discount with the code STARFLOWERS, so you should definitely take advantage :)

Who else is getting super excited for Christmas?!  Only a matter of days now!  :)  Today is my last day at work and tomorrow I’m flying home to California.  I’m so excited to see my family and my close friends and just have a change of scenery.  I’ll be traveling light since I’ll only be home for a week and I’ll refer to this packing post to remind myself to only grab the essentials.  My main goals while I’m home are to relax and take lots of pictures- I want to put my camera to good use!

Tell me: Are you traveling for the holidays?

Steve Madden Cabaret Party with Keiko Lynn!

Mail Attachment-3

all photos either taken by Alex, myself, or in the photobooth

Last week, Alex was in town and we went to a couple fun events together!  First up was the Steve Madden Cabaret Party with Keiko Lynn.  I was feeling really tired that day and almost didn’t go, but I’m so glad that Alex convinced me to come out because I had so much fun!  Keiko’s blog was one of the very first that I started reading/following and I think she has amazing style, so it was really cool to meet her in person!  Keiko was so very sweet and greeted us right when we arrived at the party and made sure we felt welcome- what a great host!  Alex, her friend Shivani, and I had a great time sipping cocktails, getting our makeup done, and of course, hamming it up in front of the photobooth!  Alex and I have decided that it isn’t really a party without a photobooth; seriously, it is so much fun to grab all of the props and go crazy taking pictures! ;)

Check back later in the week to hear more about the other event Alex and I went to! :)
