On Nnenna’s Nails #15: Matte Pink

Fuschia Shock Creme*NYC Nail Polish // Matte Top Coat*c/o Mash Nails

I was really excited to try this matte nail polish top coat sent to me by Mash Nails!  There are several manicure inspirations pictures I’ve pinned on my Nails board involving matte nails, so I’m happy to now own this top coat that can make any color look matte!

For this initial review, I kept it simple by painting my nails a solid color so you can clearly see the difference.  In the top picture you can see that the hot pink polish I chose is normally shiny and glossy, then in the second picture, I added the matte top coat and voilà, it went from shiny to matte just like that! Before I added the matte coat, I actually taped off the tips of my nails so that most of the nail would look matte while the tips would still be shiny.  The matte top coat looks cloudy in the bottle, but it goes on clear and dries quite quickly.  Overall I’m pretty pleased with this matte nail polish because it’s easy to use and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.  I can’t wait to use it again with a fancier manicure!

  1. Looks beautiful! I admit, I’m far too lazy to do my nails, but I love how that looks!

  4. I think matte nail polish would be very cool. Still wanting to try the black manicure with glossy tips that was making the Pinterest rounds a few months ago.

  5. This is really pretty, buying a matte top coat definitely saves you re-buying all your colours in a matte finish..

  6. Clever girl!! I love this matte/shiny look. Was the matte easier to maintain? I always ruin them within hours but this seems like it would be forgiving.

Thanks Noelani! I was impressed by how quickly the matte top coat dried and that it didn’t smudge. The polish underneath is cheap, so it did chip as usual, but I would think with a better quality polish the matte would hide any flaws well. I will have to test it out and let you know! :)
