Forever 21*Tee and Necklace // Lulu’s*Skirt (via Alex) // DSW*Sandals

When Alex won this awesome leopard maxi skirt last September at Blogger’s Night Out, I was totally jealous! Turns out there was no need for me to be jealous because she gave it to me a few months ago (Alex is awesome like that :D)! I wore this maxi skirt last month in CA with a new necklace that I picked up from Forever 21. I really love this necklace- I think it will be my new go-to statement necklace :) True confession time: I wore this outfit for a grand total of 15 minutes because it was just too darn hot that day!

Tell me: How do you keep cool in the hot summer months?

P.S. Thank you for all the Happy Blogaversary wishes! I had a really fun time celebrating on Friday and will post pictures soon :)

Turning Two

Today my blog turns 2- I can’t believe it! I just wanted to pop in here with a quick note to say thank you to each and everyone one of you who reads this blog and/or follows along on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, etc! I’m so proud of where the blog has come since the very early days and I only want to keep growing! It really does warm my heart that people out there on the world wide web take the time to read my posts and are actually interested in what I have to say :)

I’ve planned a little get-together with  my blogger ladies tonight to celebrate and I can’t wait! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you here on Monday!

Glasses Gal

Glasses USA Review 1

No, this is not my twin sister- it’s me with glasses on! Never before seen on the blog- you all now know that I wear glasses! :) When contacted me with the opportunity to review a pair of glasses, I decided to take them up on their offer since the timing was perfect.  I’ve been wearing glasses since the 8th grade, which also happens to be the last time I bought a pair a glasses (no seriously, I’ve had the same pair of eyeglasses for the past 8+ years!).  I felt that it was high time for an upgrade to a pair of stylish new glasses that I actually like and would want to wear!

Since my prescription was woefully out of date, I took the opportunity while I was home to visit my family eye doctor. Then with fresh new prescription, I went onto the Glasses USA website to buy glasses.  I found their website pretty easy to use- there are several different sorting options including the size of the frames, style, and price. Having only bought one pair of glasses in my life, I was at a loss as to what style might suit my face best.  Thankfully, Glasses USA has a great feature called the Virtual Mirror.

The Virtual Mirror is good for “trying on” glasses virtually, so you have a better idea of what works for your face! After a bit of deliberation and consultation with my roommate, I chose a pair of prescription glasses that I liked.  It’s really easy to enter my prescription, select my lenses and add any extras you want. On top of that, shipping was quite fast- I ordered on a Monday and my glasses came on Friday!

Generally I like my new glasses! When I first tried them on, they felt a bit tight, but that’s probably me adjusting to a new pair of glasses and I know that could easily be fixed by loosening the screws a little.  I would like the frames to be a little bigger (I tend to like big frames- like my sunglasses that I wear often in outfit posts). I do like that they’re basic with a little bit of a twist and I definitely think these suit me better than my old glasses! Also, I found the Glasses USA website user-friendly and really like that I was able to virtually try on the glasses before I chose a pair.

I’m so used to wearing contacts now that I don’t know if I would wear my glasses on the regular, but it’s so nice to have the option for days that I don’t want to/can’t wear my contacts. I also tend to wear glasses more on the weekend, so this will probably become my new weekend glasses!

Tell me: What do you think of my new glasses? Do you wear glasses yourself?

Disclaimer: Glasses USA sent these glasses to me for review; however, no other compensation was received and all thoughts and opinions in this post are entirely my own.

Stars and Stripes

Although it’s now been a whole week since the Fourth of July, I still wanted to share a few snapshots from the holiday with you guys! Last Wednesday, my friend Babe hosted a little gathering on her sweet rooftop deck in Brooklyn. For this celebration,  I turned to my Pinterest for inspiration.  During the previous week I had pinned this cake recipe found via Glitter Guide and this garland tutorial from House of Earnest. The night before the fourth I got home, put on my apron, and got to work! While I waited for the cakes to bake, I worked on the garland. Originally they’re supposed to be attached to Christmas lights, but since my lights are packed away somewhere, I instead decided to just string together my festive paper cups. Although it was too hot that day to spend a lot of time outside, we still had a grand time grilling hot dogs, eating yummy baked goods, and generally enjoying the day off!
