Well-Read Women

Daisy Buchanan, The Great Gatsby Emma Woodhouse, Emma Nancy Drew, Nancy Drew Mysteries

When you’re reading a book, do you try to picture what the characters would look like? If so, then you’ll probably love this book that just came out: Well-Read Women. I think that Chronicle Books publishes some of the prettiest books and this one is no exception. It contains illustrations of 50 famous heroines from literature, including Anna Karenina, Daisy Buchanan and Nancy Drew, to name a few. All of the portraits were created by Samantha Hahn, a painter based here in NYC. This book combines two things I love, literature and art, and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!

NYFW Outfit Inspiration

NYFW Outfit Inspiration 1

I’m having a hard time believing that summer is winding down and that New York Fashion Week is already around the corner. September is looking like a busy month for me with NYFW and family/friends visiting at various times next month. I have a couple outfit ideas in mind for NYFW, but they’re not complete yet, so I thought I would turn to Pinterest again for outfit inspiration. Take a look at some pictures that are inspiring me below!

NYFW Outfit Inspiration 1

I love that this first look is made up of two closet staples- the little white dress and a black leather jacket. I happen to have both of these items, so all I would need to recreate that look is a killer pair of shoes. Hello lady in red on the right! The skirt makes a statement all on its own, but I’m also loving those burgundy lace-up shoes that’s she added to finish off the look.

I’m in love with that pink skirt- it’s the stuff of girly dreams. Also, Taylor Tomasi Hill can do no wrong, am I right? That floral dress she’s wearing is simply gorgeous and then she tops it off with a cropped leather jacket to add some edge.

Ahhh burgundy- probably my favorite color for fall. The look on the left is simple and classic. On the right, I’m loving her polka dot skirt and we know that polka dots are always a yes. Both of these girls look put-together yet totally comfortable- definitely one of the vibes I’m going for.

Umm, this girl on the left is the coolest with her leather jacket, leather crop top, bright red skirt and pointed flats. Will someone teach me how to look as cool as she does? On the right, I’m loving this all-white and anything-but-boring outfit. The pattern and the shape of the skirt is so pretty and and I’m loving her lace-up heels too!

Tell me: Which outfit is your favorite?

Here’s the final post from my Boston trip! On my last day in Boston it was overcast for most of the morning, but that didn’t stop us from getting an early start to the day. After grabbing a bagel and coffee, we headed down to the historic old Boston (I saw lots more tourists here, compared to the other places we visited). It’s crazy to think that certain buildings have been standing for hundreds of years and I like to try to imagine what it would have been like back then.

Afterwards, we headed down to the Italian district of Boston to get some cannolis from Mike’s Pastry and we grabbed a quick bite to eat at Pauli’s. I had such a good time and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Until next time Boston!

Oh boy did I log a lot of miles on my invisible pedometer this day! I knew that we’d be doing a lot of sightseeing and exploring, so I packed a lot of simple outfits for my Boston trip so that I could be as comfortable as possible. The weather was gorgeous this day- perfect for walking all around Boston.

I loved the Boston Common so much. It reminded me that I should take more advantage of sunny days here and head to my local park for a little reading session or mini picnic. I also thought that Beacon Hill and Charles Street were just the cutest. I fell in love with one store in particular, Black Ink, which carries all sorts of lovely things, including paper goods and kitchen ware. If I ever moved to Boston, I would want to live right here!
