Hello Fall TV

Hello Fall TV

I think I’ve mentioned this sometime before on the blog, but I watch an embarrassing amount of TV. I don’t discriminate that much- I’ll watch anything from The Real Housewives to Mad Men. As much as I love summer, we have to admit that there’s not much going on in the TV department then. That’s another reason why I’m excited for fall- my TV shows are back on the air! Here are a few shows that I’m loving so far.

Brooklyn Nine Nine on Fox– I think Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher are a great comedic duo on this show and I’m excited to see where this goes.

The Voice on NBC– I love The Voice. First of all, I appreciate that the contestants actually have good voices, which means that we don’t have to sit through weeks of painful auditions. The original four judges are back this season and I think they have a great rapport- it’s fun to watch them banter with and tease each other. I have favorites each season and I still go back and listen to performances from seasons past on Youtube from time to time.

New Girl on Fox– When this show first started I thought I wouldn’t like it, but it definitely grew on me. I think it’s only gotten better over time and it’s one of my current favorite sitcoms.

Nashville on ABC– I will watch anything with Connie Britton so of course I am watching this show. I’m not a huge fan of country music so I wasn’t sure I would stick with the show at first, but I have to admit that some of the music on the show is pretty good.

Grey’s Anatomy on ABC– Yes, I am still watching Grey’s Anatomy. I can’t believe it’s on its tenth season! I believe this is Sandra Oh’s (Cristina Yang) last season and I don’t know what I’ll do when there’s no more Meredith + Cristina.

Scandal on ABC– This show is one of my obsessions. I discovered it at the tail end of season 1 and I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t heard any buzz about it. Luckily lots of other viewers caught on to the awesomeness of this show too and each week I can’t wait for the next juicy episode.

Parenthood on NBC– Ugh, this show is so good. Before I started watching this show, I knew there was a running joke that every episode would make you cry and it’s kind of true. The characters feel so real, like people I could know in real life. There’s no flashy action scenes or supernatural happenings- it’s just about life.

The Michael J. Fox Show on NBC– I love that this is a comedy dealing with a serious issue- Parkinson’s Disease. I think Michael J. Fox is totally inspirational and I hope this show sticks around for a long time.

Parks and Recreation on NBC– Leslie Knope for President! This show continues to deliver the laughs (and side note: Dear Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Pretty please with a cherry on top host The Golden Globes again? xoxo Nnenna).

Masters of Sex on Showtime– This show has been compared to Mad Men and I can see why, what with the period setting and costumes. Right now you can watch the series premiere online for free, which I did over the weekend. It seems like a really interesting story and actually made me want to do a little googling and learn more about the real-life Dr. Masters and Virginia Johnson.

The Walking Dead on AMC– At first I thought I wouldn’t able to handle the zombies and such, but it’s not even really about the zombies for me anymore. It’s about a group of people fighting tooth and nail to survive in a strange world and I’m rooting for them every step of the way.

Homeland on Showtime– Here’s another show that keeps me on the edge of my seat (or more accurately, sitting tensely upright in my bed). Each episode is so intense and sometimes I find myself holding my breath for a few long moments!

I watched entirely too much tv. Love Parks and Rec, Homeland, New Girl and OBSESSED with Nashville. Sad that Breaking Bad is over, but I’m sure I’ll find something to fill the void.

Not true – I am all about USA’s original programing in the summer. My DVR is just as full during the summer as it is right now, and that is 99%, because I can never seem to watch as much TV as I want to watch.

For returning favorites I’m watching Castle, Parenthood and Modern Family.

The new shows I’ve added (and haven’t watched yet) Include Michael J. Fox, SHEILD, Crazy Ones,

I quit Grey’s after Christina didn’t get married to Burke, but then got sucked back in about 4 seasons down the road and decided to pick it up again on Netflix, so I’ll watch an episode or two from time to time. Damn, that show is addictive.

You’re right- USA does have some good summer programs (aka Suits, one of my favorite TV shows!). You’ll have to let me know what you think of SHIELD, Michael J. Fox and The Crazy Ones once you watch them. Also, I was devastated when Burke jilted Cristina; that was rough to watch.
