Few things make a nail polish addict more excited than adding a completely new polish to her collection. The lovely Alex gave me this nail polish for my birthday and my first thought was that I didn’t own any other polish like it. Then I used it for the first time and it was true love.

This is such an interesting glitter polish. There are tiny specks of glitter, larger hexagonal bits, and strips of glitter. The combination of all these different shapes and sizes makes it so eye-catching. I knew that I had to write about this nail polish because I’ve used it the last three times I painted my nails. I’ve layered it over a navy polish, then on top of gold, and finally on top of this red. This last combination was for a holiday party that I went to on Saturday and I thought it was very festive indeed. I love this nail polish so much that I’m even going to take it with me when I fly home! I can’t wait to try it with even more different color combinations.

Tell me: How do you feel about glitter polish? Yay? Nay?

christmas tree ornaments, christmas tree decorations, christmas tree gold and, christmas tree presents What a week! Anyone else feel like they are just slogging through, trying to make it until the holidays? At the beginning of this week I was feeling a teensy bit frantic, but then I made a cup of tea and sat down to write out my to do list. Now I just have work on checking things off my list, such as sending out my Christmas cards (check! I’m mostly done- there are just a few left that I hope I’ll be able to hand deliver). I was also worried that the presents I’d ordered online wouldn’t arrive in time, but thankfully everything came on Wednesday. This weekend I have a few social activities planned and then I’d also like to squeeze in some reading time. I’m currently rereading Jane Eyre and I’d like to finish it by Tuesday so that I don’t have to travel with it (it’s a pretty big book). What are you up to this weekend?

– I’ve pretty much been listening to this one Sam Smith Christmas song on repeat (his voice!).

– Packing well and having things organized makes me so happy. The Everygirl shared 3 tips for packing your carry-on.

– I thought this New Yorker article about YouTube and Vine stars was really interesting.

Eva Chen talked to Fashionista about how she shops.

– An article about how my favorite NYC bookstore, the Strand, has stayed in business for so many years.

– Natalie has been killing it with her holiday posts this month!

Gift Guide 2014: For the Homebody

gift guide, this holiday, gift ideas under 75, gifts under 75, affordable gifts, gift guide homebody, gifts for the homebody, gifts for stay at home When I’m putting these gift guides together, I’m often thinking of things I would buy or would love to receive as gifts. Today’s guide in particular is absolutely perfect for me. My friends know that I’m a total homebody and I’ll frequently choose a cozy night in by myself over a night out. When I get home, first things first, I get into my comfies, and then I’m usually glued to my laptop or my latest read for the rest of the night. When I’m at home, it’s all about coziness and comfort, which is why I’ve included lots of soft, snuggly picks in today’s round-up. I like to unwind by brewing a cup of tea (or pouring of glass of wine if I need something stronger), lighting a fragrant candle, and getting lost in a book or TV show. If you have any friends that are homebodies, I hope this guide will give you at least one idea!

O Christmas Tree

christmas nyc, christmas outfit casual, red lip christmas, white oversized sweater, black skinny jeans this holiday, christmas nyc, christmas nyc 2014, christmas trees, christmas tree sidewalk It’s starting to hit me that I’m heading home to California soon (one week from tomorrow to be exact!). I’ve been trying to hang out with my friends one last time before I leave for the holidays and yesterday I hopped on the train to Brooklyn. In honor of her birthday and the holidays, my friend hosted a tree-trimming gathering at her apartment. As always, there were plenty of yummy snacks and good company.

I’ve got a little bit over a week to sort out my business before I fly home. I’d like to check more people off my Christmas card list, pick up a few more Christmas presents, and deliver presents to local friends before I leave. I also have another tree-trimming party to go to next weekend. This time of year is so busy busy busy, but it’s all fun stuff, so I don’t mind!
