Beauty Talk | Dry Winter Lips

dry lips in winter, dry lips, tips for dry lips

As soon as winter comes around, I feel like it’s a constant battle to keep my lips from getting dry and chapped. Generally, I have dry skin, and that’s only exacerbated during the wintertime. I’ve been using Vaseline on my lips for ages, ever since I was a little kid. Vaseline definitely provides some relief, but I was wondering if you guys had any tips to help with dry winter lips? I’ve heard good things about the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask, but do let me know if there are any really great balms you use to keep your lips from getting dry. I’d also love to hear about any lip products that you find particularly moisturizing. Sound off in the comments below!

I like Maybelline Baby lips – they are moisturising and come in lots of different flavours.

I’ve always been a user of Burts Bee…I have also tried Maybelline Baby lips I liked that as well. I have mixed feelings about Bite’s products. I don’t really like their lipsticks. Their lip primer was eh, but their lipglosses are better. I don’t know much about their lip mask though…I think I would skip this product though after trying their other ones that weren’t worth the money…

Oh man I love Chanel lipstick as well! My mom had bought me my first Chanel lipstick and ever since then it’s been love. I’m also all about MAC and Make-Up Forever lipsticks. Even though I got a sample of Urban Decay red lipstick and kinda want to buy the full tube. (I have an obsession with lipsticks LOL).

@bloganticipation:disqus @fashionistanygirl:disqus I’ve never tried a Chanel lipstick, but now I really want to! Also, Heather, which Urban decay lipstick did you get the sample of? Lipstick has quickly become one of my favorite beauty products, right up there with nail polish and mascara!

That is good to know. I’ve never tried any of their products, but I’ve heard people rave about their matte lip pencils and the lip mask.

Thanks for the suggestions Taylor! I’m definitely a chapstick girl, but I’ve never tried that Nivea product. I’m also always carrying at least a chapstick with me wherever I go! :)

Normally I stick with lip gloss and occasionally lipstick. But I really like Burts Bees chapstick during the winter months. When my lips get super dry I put coconut oil on them before bed as a night time treatment.

Thank you Shenneth. Another vote for Burts Bees! Also, thanks for suggesting coconut oil as a night treatment. I think I do need something that I can use overnight to moisturize my lips.

  5. I’ve heard extremely good things about the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask but I can’t justify spending $30 on one tube of lip product. To keep my lips hydrated, I’ve been using Chapstick, Nivea’s ‘A Kiss of Milk & Honey’ and sometimes shea butter (available at local beauty supply stores).

I know what you mean- the price is what’s kept me from picking up the lip mask. That’s a lot to spend, especially if it just so-so. If it were amazing, then perhaps maybe it’s worth it. Thank you for the suggestions Drea!

  6. oh boy. I know what you mean. It’s terrible how drying my skin gets.

I actually use Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips. It’s a thick formula but really does wonders on my lips when they are chapped and dry. Since you use Vaseline I don’t think the consistency of this product would be terribly bothersome (it’s not as greasy IMO). =)

I hadn’t heard of that one! I think something with a thick formula might be good for me to wear overnight so it can soak in while I’m sleeping. Thanks for weighing in Nancy! :)

  7. I haven’t tried the Bite lip balm, but I’ve been wanting to! I switch off between Blistex, Olive Lips, and Soft Lips. Blistex works best for me personally. I lather it on at night before bed and wake up with soft lips!

Now I want to try @adoretoadorn:disqus’s recommendation!

I like to use an exfoliating lip product if I’m going to do a really matte or dark lip. I will let you know! I got lots of good suggestions in the comments here, so now I just need to try some out.
