New From the Drugstore

Last week I went to CVS to pick up a few bits. You know how it is- you go in to get contact solution and you walk out with four beauty products that were certainly weren’t on the list. Today I thought I’d share what I bought (think of this as a mini haul, if you’d like).

– Maybelline Color Molten Eyeshadow in Rose Haze: In last week’s makeup routine, I mentioned that I only wear eyeshadow from time to time. I’m not quite sure what compelled me to pop this duo into my basket, other than the fact that the colors are so pretty. I haven’t even read or watched any reviews on this product (normally I do all of my research before I buy). I am curious though to crack this open and give it a try.

– Burt’s Bees Lip Balm: Normally I go with Chapstick when I’ve run out of lip balm, but this time I decided to try Burt’s Bees. Plus, this one is mango scented. Doesn’t that sound delicious? (Promise that I’m not going to eat my lip balm.)

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in Mars: The unofficial plan is to own all of the colors from this line because the formula is just great. I always check the display in my local CVS and I was pretty excited when I saw a few new shades (although I think they might have been released a while ago in the UK). I was good and only bought one color this time. I used to own a bright cherry red like this but it became old and clumpy, so I thought I’d replace it with this Rimmel polish.

Maybelline Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Divine Wine: Ahhh, this lipstick. I was searching for this for a while. It seemed like every time I tried to buy it, they didn’t have this color in stock (and I tried a few different stores). I’d heard good things about the Maybelline matte collection, which is why it’s been on my list for the past few months. I’ve only used this color once so far, but it does feel creamy and pleasant on the lips. After hunting it down, I only feel about 80% about the way it looks on me. It has a little more brown in it than I’d like. I’m going to keep it because I do like it, but it won’t get a lot of wear right now because I’m transitioning into spring makeup.

Have you bought any great drugstore beauty products recently?

  1. Burts’s Bees products are fantastic, and I also like Rimmel’s products. The nail varnish is a good colour. I’ve not tried the maybelline items, sounds good though. <3

  4. I know exactly what you mean, it happens to me every time I go to Target. Love what you bought though and may have to try out the Rimmel nail polish. Next time you’re looking to try something new, check out the Revlon Gel Envy nail polish. You do have to buy the special top coat but it’s so worth it. The polish lasts forever!

It’s probably a very good thing for my wallet that there’s not a Target near me! Let me know what you think if you do try out the Rimmel nail polish. I have one of the Revlon Gel Envy polishes, but I don’t have the special top coat yet. I’d like to try the color I have in combination with the top coat!

That is just how it goes… I really like the lip color, perhaps you will warm to it? Or perhaps you just aren’t feeling the shade because we are moving towards warmer weather and that was your fall obsession?

I think that’s part of it- now that Spring has come around, I’m a little less interested in the color. I do like it though, I just don’t love it!

I’ve been loyal to Burts Bees lip balm all winter, I love it. I’ll definitely check out the Maybellline lipstick, I’m in need of some new colors for spring and summer.

They do have some brighter colors in the Maybelline matte range, so I think those could be fun for spring/summer!

I haven’t actually used this new color yet, but I already know that I love the formula because I have at least 5 other colors from this collection!
