Life Around Here 03.

FEELING: Like I’d really like to get to a beach soon. Last summer I didn’t make it to the beach once, and that made me really sad. I’m not sure about my plans for early summer yet, since I’ll probably be moving sometime in July. That still leaves August and September to see if I can manage a beach trip.

THINKING ABOUT: What my future apartment will look like. As much as it sucks to move, the fun part is dressing up your new place. Although I have no idea where I’ll be living, it’s nice to daydream about changing up my bedroom and maybe having space for a large bookshelf (if only!).

LISTENING TO: Tove Lo. I typically discover new music in one of two ways: either through the New Music Tuesday playlist on Spotify or through recommendations from my roommate. I think I first heard Tove Lo’s music through a combination of both. I’d heard and enjoyed some of her singles before, but I didn’t sit down and listen to her full album, Queen of the Clouds, until recently. I liked it a lot- there are cheeky, upbeat songs that I could picture blasting in my car, as well as some slower songs that are fun to dramatically sing along to. I’ve been listening to the album on repeat and I bet my roomie is sorry that he told me check it out.

WATCHING: It’s season finale time in the TV world, and in some cases, it’s series final time. I just caught up on the last episode ever of Mad Men and it felt really weird. You spend so much time with these characters and in this world, and then one day it’s gone. At least we have summer shows to look forward to, like Orange is the New Black.

EATING: My sweet tooth has been acting up and the cravings have been stronger than usual lately. I keep buying Junior Mints (sorry dentist!) and last weekend I made a lemon drizzle cake. Also, my iced coffee budget has shot way up in the past few weeks. Is it really a spring weekend if it doesn’t involve iced coffee?

READING: After A Little Life, I was in the mood for light, fun, and easy reads. Right now I’m reading Murder on the Orient Express and I’m about halfway through. I couldn’t remember if I’ve read this before or not, but good old Agatha always delivers a solid story.

THANKFUL FOR: Being able to live in New York City (most of the time). I still have those moments when I look around and think, “New York, you’re so beautiful right now.”

LOVING: This lightweight denim tee at Gap, this star-print shirt, and this pretty pink sweater.

I love that star print t-shirt that you found here – it’s really cute. And I hope everything goes smoothly with moving and that you’re left with enough free time for a beach trip!

I would so love to take a trip to the beach soon! Moving sounds not-so-fun but decorating a new space will be! I can’t wait to see how you decorate :) That lemon cake sounds heavenly. I’m not huge into lemon, but I definitely like lemon baked goods.

I really don’t know yet! I was about 95% sure I’d have to move, but now maybe I’m staying… It’s all up in the air. Either way, I really want to stay in downtown Manhattan!
