The weather forecast is predicting a high over 70 degrees today and tomorrow- I’m so excited to bask in the warm sun. Now that the weather is actually cooperating, I’ve been gathering some outfit ideas for spring.

1. I’ve decided that this will be the spring I make denim jackets work on me. For some reason I feel like they looks strange on me, but this year I’m going to give it another go.

2. I love the idea of toughening up a floaty white dress with a leather jacket and ankle boots. I’ll have to try to recreate this look!

3. Bold printed dress + neutral sandals = one very chic outfit.

4. I still love a military-inspired jacket and I love how she layered her jacket over a striped top, then finished the outfit off with some leopard heels- so fun!

Prepping

As we get ever closer to New York Fashion Week, I’ve kind of been in a shopping frenzy. You see, I’m hoping to be able to attend a few shows this season, which is super exciting, but has also lead me to the important question of, “What will I wear?!”

I’ve turned to Pinterest for some outfit inspiration and above are two looks that I’m really loving. Both girls look perfectly polished in simple, chic outfits. If I’m going to be attending a show, I want to look my best, but also still feel comfortable with what I’m wearing. I would wear either of these outfits in a heartbeat!

I’ve been doing some of my shopping in stores, but I was also browsing online, on sites like Asos and Topshop. I also recently heard of Kildare Village, a shopping outlet located in the UK. They carry so may great brands at discounted prices- I wish I could go there and get all my NYFW shopping done in one place!

If you’re going to be in town next week for fashion week, let me know- I’d love to meet up!

FBFF: Inspiration

My second Fashion Beauty Friend Friday Group post, so exciting!  This week’s questions are about inspiration and it’s been fun thinking about where my inspiration comes from.

1. Which celebrity (celebrities) do you look to for fashion inspiration? There are several celebrities whose style I admire- I wouldn’t necessarily say that I try to copy them, but I often like what they wear.

Zoe Saldana: Well, first of all, she’s absolutely gorgeous and I think her style is effortlessly chic in a way that I really love.

Blake Lively:  She is one sexy lady and doesn’t mind showing off what she’s got!

Rachel Bilson: She’s petite (like me!) and looks chic both on and off the red carpet.

2. When it comes to your own personal style, what inspires you? When describing my personal style, I find it really difficult to pinpoint the right words.  I would say that I’m inspired by looks that are girly and simple/comfortable, yet still chic.  I’m a pretty mellow, easy-going person and I think that’s reflected in my style.  Other times, however, I want to try something different, like tough combat boots or bright colorblocking!  I don’t know, help me out with this one guys!  How would you describe my style?

girly girl- pearls and bows
a little edgier

3. How do you hope to inspire your readers? As I often say, I’m inspired by real-girl fashion and I hope to do the same for my readers.  I hope I inspire my readers to try new outfits, learn a new craft, or learn more about a topic that’s new to them!  I’m inspired by my fellow bloggers everyday and I just want to share the love and pass on the inspiration. =)

4. Outside the realm of fashion who/what inspires you?
This is a little bit of a reiteration of one of my answers from last week, but I think my parents are really inspirational.  They have both overcome a lot of adversity to get to where they are now and they’ve done it all together- I think that’s really amazing.

5. And since Idol is ending… Which songs inspire you?
Anything by John Legend (click here and here for my two favorite songs).  Seriously, he’s my go-to artist no matter what emotion I’m feeling, and especially when I want to relax or focus.  His voice is just so…soothing and in my opinion, it touches the soul.  I would absolutely love to see him in concert!

Just had to include this picure because they are so cute together, but boy, am I jealous of this girl! ;)

Looking Forward To…

Last week, we had a few days of really nice weather- sunny and around 50/60 degrees.  Of course this meant that I immediately started to pretend that spring had come, even though I knew better.  I went out with bare legs and wore my lighter coat!  I also created these sets, dreaming about how I would bare my legs in even warmer weather.  Today I drew back my curtains to discover that it had snowed again, so I’m just going to close my curtains and pretend it’s spring in my little room.

1. Linen Blend-Short w/ Striped Belt: $14.80- I love the navy color and crispness of these shorts, as well as the preppy striped belt that they come with.  Both would be great basic additions to my closet!
2. Tulip Romper: $12.50- I didn’t really jump on the romper trend last season because I was worried that they would look terrible on me.  Since then I’ve realized that it’s all about the fit, so I’m ready to try again, and what better romper to start with than this delightful, springy number? =)
3. Fab Denim Shorts: $10.50- Dark denim shorts at a really good price?  Yes, please!

1. Twelve Gore Skirt: $15.80- This is a very classic-looking skirt and I simply love the silver buttons going down the front.
2. Mid Striped Skirt: $16.80- I haven’t tried the midi length on my body (I’m still coming round to maxis!) but this skirt looked so good on the model that I just had to include it.  Plus, I really need some more stripes in my life!
3. Striped Ruffled Skirt: $16.80- Stripes! Fun! Summery!  Can it be mine, please? :D

1. Leatherette Gladiator Sandals: $23.80- I love how it laces up in the front (I’ve been really into my lace-up boots all winter!) and the zipper in the back is essential!
2. Braided Leatherette Sandals: $19.80- I really like the low wedge on these and the color would fill a gap in my shoes collection.
3. Canvas Mary Jane Flats: $16.80- Too. Cute. For. Words!
4. Double Ankle Strap Wedges: I think this give off a really cool, modern vibe and would look amazing paired with many a spring/summer dress!
5. Cutout Suedette Wedges: $26.80- The cutouts give the toesies a little breather/look cool and I really like the chunky heel.

Tell me- which of these picks do you like?
Happy President’s Day everyone! =)
