Pretty Pastel Jewelry

Surprise, surprise- pastels for spring (just kidding- this is not surprising at all)! I’m so ready to shed the darker colors of winter for these softer colors. The great thing about the basics I purchased recently is that I could pop on one of these pastel pieces to instantly add a spring touch to my outfit.

Lilac Midi Ring (love the vintage feel) // Rydlove Bracelets // Chain Bracelets // Crochet Lace Earrings (I think these would be perfect for festival season) // Gold and Pink Bubble Necklace // Christie Flower Necklace // Pastel Pink Rhinestone Necklace (so girly and pretty) // Pastel Stone Drop Earrings // Ritz Rhapsody Necklace (How is this necklace only $30?! It’s stunning!) // Pyramid Stud Bangle // Double Chain Bracelet // Stud Set

Tell me: How are you transitioning your wardrobe for spring?

aeropostale striped top target quilted miniskirt 2 This was the first weekend that I felt like spring had actually arrived for good. It was raining most of last week, but this weekend the sun came out in full force and the temperature was a blissful 50 degrees.

red stripes I had a really great weekend. Saturday my friend had a birthday party in Tribeca. First we all met up for drinks, then went dancing. The music was pretty great and it felt so good to cut loose and be silly on the dance floor. On Sunday my roommate and I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and went out to run some errands.

We picked up some new clothes for him at Banana Republic, some tasty eats from my fave, Bedford Cheese Shop, and best of all, fresh flowers from a local vendor. I’m looking at these tulips sitting in my windowsill right now as I type this and I’m feeling pretty content. Sorry to get all gushy on you guys, but recently I’d been feeling more down than up, so it’s nice to be experiencing these little moments of happiness.

Since the temperatures were relatively warm, I was so ready to bare my legs in my quilted miniskirt from Target. I felt like sporting some color, so I wore my bright coral striped top from Aeropostale. I also put on my comfy, new sneakers. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but there are little silver threads running through the fabric. Ahhh, weekend, thanks for being so good to me. Please come back soon.

P.S. Have you entered my giveaway yet? There’s still time!

Cuffed Jeans and Oxfords On Saturday morning, Kiet and I woke up bright and early and took the train up to Harlem to meet my godsister Sarah. Sarah is the coolest- she’s a producer for a major TV network, she’s filmed her own documentaries, and now she’s starting a new show which she invited us to be a part of. The show is called Sunday Brunch and features a small panel of guests discussing a different topic over brunch each episode.

This is not normally the kind of thing I’d sign up to do- I can be shy sometimes when meeting new groups of people and discussing my thoughts in front of a bunch of strangers sounds intimidating to me. However, Sarah is family and I knew Kiet would also be there, so I decided to just give it a try. I’m not going to lie- brunch food was also a big incentive! The segment is still being edited, but I’ll make sure to share it once it’s ready (providing that I don’t sound like a total idiot).

Spiky Statement Necklace Joe Fresh Oxfords I like to keep it easy and casual on the weekends, so I went for a simple jeans + tee shirt combo and also slipped on my new oxfords. I’ve worn them twice now and I continue to be very happy with my decision to purchase these. I thought they’d be really stiff at first, but they’re surprisingly comfortable and I like the pizzaz they add to this simple outfit.

Since I knew we’d be on camera from the chest up, I accessorized my outfit with this new statement necklace. I like that the stones are black and that it’s thankfully much lighter than it looks. The spiky studs are a nice touch too- I like the hint of edginess.

Winter Weekend Style I wasn’t much of a sneakers girl as a kid. In fact, I never owned a pair of the super popular Converse and I don’t really remember buying my first pair of sneakers until I was in college. It’s not that I didn’t like them, I just thought they didn’t fit my style. I don’t think that any more (or my style has simply evolved, as it tends to do over the years).

Pink HM Cargo Jacket After wearing boots all winter, I’m happy to now slip into something lighter. These sneakers are super comfortable and they were only 15 bucks (win win!). They have a few other patterns and I’m kind of tempted to go back and pick up another pair!

Leopard Slip On Sneakers Burgundy Ribbed Beanie Handmade Here’s the beanie I knit last month. Although we’ve had some days with highs above 50, the temperature dipped back down to the 30s yesterday, so I’m still getting some use out of this hat. Also, I kind of can’t help matching my lipstick to this beanie every time I wear it. This burgundy lipstick from MAC is definitely a favorite from mine.

What did you do this weekend? After two straight weekends that were filled with social activities, it was nice to have this quiet weekend as a change of pace. A few friends and I had drinks on Saturday and then we did a bit of shopping. On Sunday my roommate and I ran out for a bit to take care of an errand, but then we scurried back inside quickly when we realized how chilly it was.
