Today I wanted to talk about a few of the nail polishes that I’ve been reaching for lately. In winter, I definitely gravitate towards darker, moody colors. Every once in a while, I’ll break up my dark streak with a lighter color and during the festivities last month I was all about that sparkle.

Essie Barefoot in Blue (similar)- This is a nail polish that I won (I think?). It was created in a collaboration between Essie and TOMS. It’s a dusty cornflower blue and I think it’s a color that looks great in spring or winter.

Julep Quinn- When I find a color that’s different from everything else in my collection, I get pretty excited. This is a muted purple-grey nail polish with a satin finish. I don’t think I’ve ever really seen a color like this, so I think this nail polish is very interesting.

Rimmel Salon Pro Red Award- I’m still not over these deep reds for fall/winter. I love the formula of this polish and if you want to learn more, you can check out my previous beauty fave post.

Joe Fresh Navy (similar)- When I first discovered Joe Fresh a couple of years ago, I was surprised to find out that they also carry some beauty products. Their nail polishes were 3/$10, so of course I had to buy a few and try them out. I think the quality of these is good and I love a good navy blue.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Wedding Glitters- During the month of December, I pretty much only wore glitter polishes on my nails. For two weeks I used Formula X Wham!, but when I traveled home for Christmas I didn’t take any nail polish with me. I was browsing Walgreens for a hair dryer and I spotted this pretty gold shimmer (Typical. I basically can’t go into the drugstore without buying a nail polish.). It’s eye-catching and also great because it’s contains fine glitter, instead of chunky glitter that’s a pain to remove.

striped shirt, black mini skirt, knee high socks, skirt and knee high socks, classic stripes, stripes outfit I don’t know why, but I feel like I look a bit like a French school girl in this outfit. This is probably nothing like what French school girls actually wear, but in my head, this is how one might dress. Can anyone confirm or deny?

striped shirt, black mini skirt, knee high socks, skirt and knee high socks, classic stripes, stripes outfit Today is my last day in California and tonight I’ll be buckled up on a plane for a red-eye flight back home. It’s been really, really great to spend time with my family this past week and a half, but I’m also looking forward to getting back to my cozy little bedroom in NYC. It’s always nice to have some down time in the city. I don’t go back to work until the 5th, so I get to enjoy being on vacation for one more glorious week.

I think I’m going to do dinner with some friends, then head over to another friend’s apartment for a party. While I was in California, I picked up a sparkly top to wear on Wednesday and I’m still deciding what I want to do with my makeup. I’m trying to get back to the regular schedule this week, so check back soon for some reflections on 2014 and resolutions for 2015!

Hello kitty cats! This cat print dress is certainly not a shy print, but I do love it. I think the fact that it’s black and white makes it much more wearable and it’s easy to throw on when I’m not quite sure what to wear.

It felt more like summer than fall this past weekend, but I don’t mind since it’s still warm enough to bare my legs. I’m going to hold off on tights for as long as I can! The leaves have started to change colors and I think they’re so pretty. Since I grew up in California, I didn’t really see that seasonal transformation until I moved to the East Coast.

It’s been so nice having some time off work and hanging out with my sister. With the sun shining and my iced coffee in hand, I’m a happy girl. Can it always be like this?

vogue magazine, the virgin suicides, postcards, july favorites picture, things I love

Here are a few things that I loved in July:

Lupita’s Interview in Vogue Magazine. I was so excited when I saw that Lupita was going to be on the cover of Vogue. I finally got around to reading her interview and it was so good. I continue to admire her and if you’re a Lupita fan, you’ll definitely want to check out this interview.

Julep Nail Color Kam. I may have like six other mint green nail polishes, but they’re all different. This one by Julep is my new favorite of the bunch and you can see what it looks like on my nails here.

The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. I was really excited to read this one. I posted a picture at the beginning of last month and several people commented about how much they love this book. I finished it recently and thought it was so good. The longer I think about it and reflect on it, the more I like it. At some point soon, I’ll watch the movie directed by Sofia Coppola.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl in Black. I was looking for an eyeliner that I could use on my waterline and this one works really well. It’s so creamy and smooth. Now I need a new eyeliner pen for cat eye flicks because my previous one dried out. Any recommendations for one that makes it easier to do a cat eye for an eyeliner noob like me?

Postcards from my best friend. I’ve already mentioned these in my wanderlust post, but it was certainly the best mail that I received all month.

Tell me: What were your July favorites?
