Well, these are the last of the photos that I took when I was in California in December. Sometimes I think, “Why did I ever leave California, where it’s a sunny 50 degrees in the middle of winter?”
As much as I wanted to hibernate this weekend, I did leave the house on Saturday to attend Lulu’s NYFW Style Studio. As always, it was a fun event and I picked up a couple of pretty pieces that will be making their way to the blog at some point. Thanks to Lulu’s for a fun evening!
On Sunday I was glued to the TV, soaking up all of the Olympics coverage. And when I say glued to the TV, I mean I watched the coverage from 2-6pm and then from 7-11pm. Yep, that’s serious couch potato status right there.

Ahhh, it’s good to be back in NYC (and to be back on the blog)! I took a red-eye from LAX on Saturday night and got back to the city on Sunday morning. It was so nice to be home and see my family for Christmas, but I’m also happy to be back here in my cozy little bedroom.
Another nice thing about being on break is that I had plenty of time to take photos in daylight. Stay tuned, as this is the first of several outfit posts from CA! I brought a couple of fancier dresses with me and this LRD (little red dress) was one of them. After adding a statement necklace and a red lip, I was all gussied up and ready to go.
I borrowed these fun heart-shaped sunnies from my sister. I’d forgotten my own sunglasses at home, but luckily she had a spare pair for me in her car. And speaking of cars, here’s a fun little selfie that I took with my siblings that same day. I love these guys.

Welcome to a new (and hopefully regular) feature on the blog- The Closet Series. One of my resolutions this year is to totally revamp my wardrobe. I’m ready to have a wardrobe I can be proud of. First I’ll need to get rid of all the things that don’t fit or that I haven’t worn in years and start stocking my closet with pieces I really love. And I mean really really love- clothes that I didn’t buy just because they were on sale, clothes that make me feel awesome when I put them on, and clothes that I’ll want to wear for years to come.
For a while I’ve felt that some of the pieces I own are too juvenile and I’m ready to upgrade my closet a bit. Not that I didn’t like those items when I bought them, but I think it’s time to move in a different direction. Part of this involves figuring out what I want my closet to look like and head in that direction. I’ve noticed that the outfits I like the most are classic with a little bit of a twist; they’re simple, yet still polished.
I’m beginning with the basics and first on my list is finding the perfect black blazer. I have a black blazer right now, but the fit is all wrong and I feel that it swallows me up a little bit. However, with the right fit/cut, a blazer is a great way to finish off a casual or dressy outfit. Take a look at some options that have caught my eye above and some inspirational looks below!
Tell me: How do you feel about your closet right now-
love it or hate it or somewhere in-between?
