I know it’s been a month since NYFW but I still have pictures to share! I’d been saving this red dress for the right occasion and I decided that the rewardStyle NYFW party would be the perfect place to wear it.
While I was there, I was reunited with blogger friends Lydia and Meg, who I hadn’t seen since I moved from Connecticut to New York. It was so great to catch up with them at the party! And get this- I also ran into a friend who I hadn’t seen since high school. At first I thought there was no way it could be her, since as far as I knew she was not a fashion blogger, but it turns out she has her own photography business and came to New York as the photographer for B. Jones Style. It was definitely one of those moments where you think, “What a small world!”
Last week I found out that I won the opportunity to go on a little fall shopping spree with Keiko Lynn at TJ Maxx! I’d totally forgot that I entered so it was a lovely little surprise. Even better, it turns out that a couple of other blogger friends, Lydia and Jessica, were also at the event.
Keiko, and the other hosts of the event, shared the fall trends they loved, including leather, mod silhouettes, sequins, army green, booties and chunky knits. After that we were given a $100 gift card to spend on anything that we wanted in the store! It was so lovely to talk to Keiko, who is just as sweet as she appears on her blog and who was there to offer advice if we had styling questions.
After shopping around for a bit, I ended up with a fun printed dress, burgundy pants, a cute faux leather jacket and a chambray shirt. I really love what I picked out and think that I can definitely wear these items in fall, as well as transition them into other seasons.

Does this outfit look familiar? If so, that’s because I lifted it straight from this inspiration picture. Little white dress? Check. (Faux) leather jacket? Check. Pointed-toe pumps that I scored at T.J. Maxx for 5 bucks? Check.
I wore this on my first day of NYFW and it also happens to be the outfit I got snapped in for Essence Magazine’s NYFW Street Style round-up! When I found the picture online, I showed my sister, who told my brother, who told my parents, which lead each of them to call me separately about it. My dad said he didn’t know that I was “internationally famous” (As if! But that’s cute dad, thanks.) and my mom asked me to get as many copies of the magazine as I could (It’s only online mom, but you can send the link to anyone you want!). Sometimes my family really makes me laugh!
More NYFW coverage to come from the shows/presentations I attended last week, so stay tuned! Hope you all have a great weekend!
I can’t say this American-themed outfit happened by accident. That morning, I put on the white tee and navy skirt and knew the perfect way to finish off this look would be with my red cardigan. This skirt is long enough to wear to work, is perfect for twirling, and has polka dots- win, win, win!
Do you guys have any fun things planned for this weekend? My friend’s birthday is on Sunday, so I’ll be heading to her place for a little birthday celebration. Other than that, I’m thinking it will be a pretty quiet weekend. I’ve been feeling sleep-deprived and headachy for the past few weeks, even though my sleep schedule hasn’t really changed, so I’m going to try to really rest up this weekend!
