My style definitely varies- one day I’ll be wearing all-black clothing with my combat boots and the next day I’ll put on a ladylike dress like this one. I fought hard for this Jason Wu for Target dress when it came out nearly a year ago. First I had it in my cart and purchased it, then I received an email saying that my order had been cancelled because it was out of stock. After that I stalked online forums and Facebook until I found someone who had the dress in my size and was willing to sell it to me for the regular retail price. Despite all of that hullabaloo, I think this is the first time the dress has made it to the blog (though I’ve definitely worn it plenty of times since it finally arrived at my doorstep)!

Really, my favorite thing to thrown on is a dress like this one. It’s simple in shape and color, but has enough interesting details with the stripes on the bottom and the pleating on the bodice. This dress makes me feel very prim and proper- it’s the kind of outfit I’d wear to visit with older relatives or to an occasion like graduation. In this particular case though, I just wore it to work on a regular old Friday. You can’t tell from the pictures, but this dress has pockets too and dresses with pockets are just the best.

Thank goodness the weather is finally starting to warm up, but it doesn’t feel like we’re 100% there yet! These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago when it was still cool enough to require a winter coat and even now I’m not sure that I can put away my winter coat for good.

I love this polka dot skirt that I picked up on sale from Forever 21 a few months ago. It reminds me of the skirt in the outfit on the left from this post, a look I still want to try to recreate. The sweater I’m wearing used to be really slouchy and just a bit oversized, which I loved, but sadly I washed it and put it in the dryer and it shrunk a lot. Oh well, I’ll just have to figure out new ways to wear it!

Did you guys have a good weekend? Mine was pretty great- on Saturday I went to brunch at Le Paris Bistrot with a group of friends and afterwards we headed to the Met to check out the new Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity exhibit. The exhibit was great- the Impressionist era is one of my favorite periods of art and it was so interesting to see the fashions of that same time period juxtaposed with the paintings. I don’t make it uptown to the Met nearly often enough, but every time I do I remember how much I enjoy going to the museum.

Okay, so this title is a little misleading- nothing strange happened to us while we were in Times Square. I just wanted to call it “Rare Times” because I am so rarely in that area. I avoid Times Square like the plague because it’s always crowded/jam-packed. However, since we were nearby for the Kensie Jewelry preview, we decided we might as well take advantage of the backdrop for our pictures!

I love the pink blazer that I’m wearing! I scored it at Forever 21 on major sale ($5.50) and it makes a simple outfit feel more pulled together. I’m also wearing one of my favorite scarves- the colors are so pretty and anything with florals right now makes me so excited for spring. I know I’ve said this constantly lately, but I really cannot wait for spring to get here!
