Phew! I can’t believe I haven’t posted in so long! May was a particularly crazy month for me and one important thing after another came up, which unfortunately meant that I didn’t have time to post. However, over the past couple of weeks, several exciting things have happened to me and I cannot wait to share all of it with you guys! That stuff will be revealed in the coming weeks, but I figured I would ease back into the blogging world with good old outfit post.
lace top- charlotte russe, black cami (underneath) and skirt- forever 21, sandals- Payless |
parka- h&m |
purse- tj maxx |
For a long time, I resisted the maxi trend. I just assumed there was no way it would work on short people! However, since starting this blog, I’ve learned that many styles are worth a try, even if you don’t think they’ll work for your body type! So I bought this maxi skirt from Forever 21, but it took me another couple of months to figure out the right outfit and to work up the nerve to wear it out of my room! That said, I really love this outfit! I don’t think I look short and stumpy like I feared I would and I think the accessories I chose make the skirt look young and fresh, as opposed to old and dowdy. What do you guys think- did I pull off the maxi skirt?
Also, a couple more notes about this outfit. Say hello to my favorite spring purchase- this H&M parka! I seriously cannot believe this is the first time it is making it into an outfit post because I’ve worn it practically nonstop since I bought it! It is the perfect lightweight jacket and I’m so glad I purchased it in this dusty rose color (my friends had to convince me not to get the black one!) because it looks great with so many items. Also, I realized I rarely take my outfit pictures with my purse because I use the same few purses and don’t rotate often. This is one of my trusty crossbody purses- perfect for running errands and the like.
Thank you so much Kiah! Yes, I'll have to try this outfit sometime with my combat boots! =)
I love the lace top with the long skirt! Very elegant! I could totally see this with a black combat boot!! You look super cute! Kiah
Yay, thanks! I'm glad I gave it a shot! =)
I'm 5"1 so I know how you feel. You worked this trend though!
Thank you so much Casee! I know, it is such a surprise that it actually doesn't look too bad! I would love to see you sporting your maxi dress! =) I've missed you and your blog too love, and of course I'll pop right over! I simply cannot wait to catch up on all your posts that I've missed- I know I'm in for some good reading! :D
P.S. On a completely unrelated note, I was seriously thinking of switching over to WordPress and I know you made that decision earlier this year so I was wanting to get your opinion…What do you think?
You look gorgeous! I totally resisted the maxi trend too, I just had no expectation that it would ever work for me both for my shortness and my curvy-ness. I got my first one back in February from Dorothy Perkins and it's fast become my favorite dress! It actually makes me feel taller and more slimmed out.
P.S. I'm so glad you're working you're way back into blogging, girly! I've missed you! Oh, and I'm celebrating my blog's one-year anniversary with a contest for my readers – I'd love for you to enter if you're interested, because you've been such a great encouragement and support for me. xoxo
Thanks so much! =)
Thank you and hope you are having a great Memorial Day too! =)
Aww, thanks so much! =)
Thanks Megan!! :D
Thank you Courtney! And I'm getting so excited too! =) Congrats on all the great things that have been happening for you and hope the move is not too stressful over these next few days!
Thank you so much Joy- I'm so glad I gave it a try! =)
You're totally right Erin- I think that's an important thing to realize! Thanks! =)

Welcome back! I am wary of maxis, but want to pull mine out as well. Maxi skirts/dresses worn right can actually make you look taller!
PERFECTION!!! YAY MAXIS! xoxo

I've also resisted the maxi-trend for that very reason… but maybe I should reconsider.
Just discovered your blog, would love it if you popped by mine sometime.

Look at you rocking that maxi skirt – it looks great! I can't wait to hear all your news (I'm also getting super excited for the upcoming blogger meet up!!!). I've had a pretty busy month as well. I got that PTAI that I applied for (so come January I'll be teaching my very own junior seminar) and got two papers accepted to conferences (which I of course now have to write over the summer) and in two days I move to my new place so I'm in the middle of packing hell right now.

gorgeous outfit! love the skirt, really suits your shape and the colour isn't something I'd go for if i saw it on the hanger but it looks fantastic on! And the white lace is soooo pretty – the perfect little summer top and I imagine it's something you could wear with loads of different styles :)
I totally love the top and the maxi skirt, I want them both ;)
See you!
I've realized that sometimes I just have to try things on! When I think back at all the clothing I have passed up because I just assumed it wouldn't work out, I cry, lol! A few years ago I started making myself try on at least one item that I would normally avoid. Sometimes I surprised, sometimes I'm reminded why I don't wear certain styles! I love the color of the parka from H&M!
