When I found out about this project on twitter, I was immediately all in! Two NYC-based bloggers organized this craftalong to make warm items to donate to people who were affected by Sandy. These items can be knit, crocheted, or sewn and can be any of of the following: hats, scarves, mittens/gloves, blankets, sweaters or socks. They’re looking to collect donations and give them out as soon as possible, so if you have the time and resources to spare, I highly encourage you to participate! Take a look at the two items I made below (Alex and I think they look like a squash and a bell pepper, haha) and click here to find out all the details!
This is a wonderful idea! And I love the two hats you made! How is the recovery effort going in NYC?
Thanks so much Jackie! :)
What a great idea – what could be better to receive than a cozy handmade item?
the hats you made are adorable.
Thanks Lydia! I hope they get out to those in need soon :)
This is so wonderful, and so great to put handmade efforts for a good cause.Love your hats! xo
Thank you! I’m happy that I can contribute in some small way :)
I saw this in your Instagram post! So glad you put up the information on your blog because I definitely could send some handmade hats over! Thanks for sharing Nnenna!
Awesome! You’ll have to share pics of what you make :) (Also, their FB page is the best place to go for updates and deadlines on the project!)
I love this idea! I’m going to be letting my mom know about this as she’s quite the crocheter (not sure that’s a word but it is now!) lol
Awesome, thanks for spreading the word! :D
Yes, these hats are part of the new vegetable collection!
If only I could knit like this… maybe someday!
Haha, the vegetable collection! :P
