REVIEW • HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS AND UNFAIRLY CUTE (@getunderlined #gifted) • This book was simply adorable! I’m pretty sure that if I looked up the definition of cute, this book would be listed. Talia Hibbert does it again!

This book was such a joy to read. When I started the book and realized that even the glossary was amusing, I knew I was in for a good time! The way that Hibbert develops their relationship from best friends to enemies to lovers was so well done. I thought it evolved so naturally and I love that it didn’t all happen overnight.

Did I mention how adorable this pairing was?? Celine is the prickly one who loves discussing conspiracy theories on TikTok and Brad is the sunshiney football player who dreams of being a writer. And the banter was great! The way that Brad and Celine were trading insults when they were in the enemies phase had me chuckling.

I thought there was great mental health rep in this book. Brad has OCD and we see the methods that he uses to handle his intrusive thoughts. Also, I really related to Celine’s feelings of fear around letting herself be vulnerable.

I was really looking forward to having a new Talia Hibbert book to read and it did not disappoint. I couldn’t stop smiling when I finished this book- Brad and Celine forever!

REVIEW • LOVE RADIO by Ebony LaDelle (@simonteen #gifted) • I realized I never posted a full review for this adorable YA romance that I read last year! I couldn’t stop smiling while I was reading this book. It was just so cute!

The relationship between our two main characters is one that you can’t help but root for. I loved the way they were both passionate about their separate interests (writing for Dani and music for Prince). I could feel that they wanted nothing but the best for each other and I loved the way they pushed each other to dream big and not be afraid to pursue those passions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I thought Dani’s struggle was so well-written and relatable, and I sympathized with her so much. The way that Prince took care of his little brother, Mook, and his mother, who has multiple sclerosis, was so heartwarming. But at the same time, it was a huge weight on his shoulders and I thought LaDelle did such a good job of exploring that balance of taking care of others, while still taking care of yourself.

There were so many adorable moments in this novel, which I won’t tell you about so that you can experience them for yourself. But I will say that there were multiple moments that had me swooning!

I loved the Detroit-specific things that were included in this book as it gave me an opportunity for me to learn more about a city that I didn’t know much about. It also added a richness of detail to the story and you can tell that LaDelle has a lot of love for the city.

Let me reiterate one more time how utterly cute this book was because I cannot get over it! If you've read LOVE RADIO, let me know what you thought!

REVIEW • THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES by Sangu Mandanna • After a disappointing read, I needed a win, and this book knocked it out of the park. It was an utter delight!

It was like a comforting hug, a cozy blanket, a hot cup of tea. It was absolutely charming and heartwarming and I loved it so much.

Every single one of the characters in this book captured my heart. I loved our main character, Mika, and I had a lot of sympathy for her. The way she was raised to feel othered and like she had to hide parts of herself was so heartbreaking. She deserved so much better than that.

Found family is one of my favorite tropes and the found family in this book was just so wonderful. I loved following along on the journey as Mika formed relationships with each one of them and became a part of their circle. Also, the grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Mika and Jamie was perfect. A sexy librarian? Yes, please! Their romance is definitely a slow burn, but I thought the payoff was well worth it.

This cozy and heartwarming novel absolutely gave me the warm and fuzzies and I’m so glad that I finally picked it up!
