On the day of the wedding, we girls woke up bright and early to start getting ready. My best friend and her sis had hair appointments that morning, but I’d opted to do my hair and makeup myself. Oh, and did I ever fill you guys in on my dress drama? When I got on the plane to head to the wedding, I didn’t have a dress to wear. Ok, that’s not quite true- I packed a little black cocktail dress as a backup, but the plan was to do a some shopping in San Diego once I landed.
My sister picked me up from the airport and after a quick pit stop at In-N-Out, we drove straight to the mall. After looking around for a few hours, I still hadn’t found a dress I liked. Then we decided to pop into JC Penney, a store I haven’t visited in ages. There, in the area that contained the Joe Fresh collection, I found this pretty pink dress for under $25. Scooore!
Although I don’t want to procrastinate like that again because I was having serious anxiety about what I would wear, I am really pleased with the dress I wore. The price was pretty perfect and I wanted to wear something light-colored like this. The printed design may look intricate, but the dress itself was comfortable and fuss-free (and it had pockets- swoon).
Now, back to the day of the wedding! As I was saying, we woke up early to get ready, but of course we were rushing to make it to the church on time. The first wedding ceremony took place in the loveliest little church- exactly what you might picture when you hear the words “wedding in Mexico.”
The wedding was so lovely. I can count the number of weddings I’ve attended on one hand, but that doesn’t mean I can’t call this one as my favorite wedding ever. It just felt so special since I’m close to their family. The bride looked absolutely gorgeous and the groom looked so dapper and happy.
After the church ceremony, there was a little break for pictures. Then we headed down to the beach for the civil ceremony in front of the judge. As it turns out, I ended up being one of the witnesses to sign their official marriage license- I felt so honored that I could play some small role in their special day.
The night ended with dinner, drinks, and dancing on the beach. The live band was fantastic and it was so much fun to cut loose on the dance floor. You could tell everyone was having a blast! Well, I shouldn’t really say the night ended because I stayed up into the wee hours of the next morning. I didn’t even realize it was after midnight until someone turned to me and said “Happy Birthday!”
I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Come back next week for part 3 of my trip to Mexico and to find out how I spent my birthday!
I would’ve been stressed out too not having a dress! It all worked out though! I think the dress you chose it super cute. The photos are so beautiful, it looks like the weather couldn’t have been better. Happy Belated Birthday btw!
