Just when we thought summer was gone, it made a surprise comeback this weekend in NYC. On Saturday I was headed to the rewardStyle party at the Empire Hotel and my goal was not to show up looking like a hot and sweaty mess. After the train stalled at Times Square for nearly 20 minutes, I knew I was losing the battle. When big, fat raindrops starting falling right as I got out of the subway, I conceded defeat. At least I could blame my mussed-up appearance on the rain?
I really wasn’t sure what to wear, but I decided to go for loose and easy. Nothing too clingy because that’s not a good feeling when the sweat starts trickling down your back (gross, I know, but true). I was very comfortable in this peplum top that I wore over my mini skirt and my Sole Society sandals were a good choice for adding a little height.
This gorgeous ring was a gift that I received at the party and I put it on immediately. Who can resist a little bit of sparkle? The peachy color on my nails is another one of the Rimmel Salon pro nail polishes that I love so much. I can’t get enough of them.
I filmed a few little clips on Saturday and I’m going to attempt to put them into a vlog, so stay tuned for that!

Thank you Kat!
You look so pretty in that dress, too bad I wasn’t in NY to attend that party.
Thank you so much Rachelle :)
I love that quilted skirt….I need to get my ass to a Target! Don’t you hate it when the weather is also sort of wonky like that? The humidity and heat mixed with the occasional shower used to drive my batty about east coast weather.

Thanks Courtney! I was not having the weather that day, at all…
I love your outfit! That ring is very pretty – adds a bit of bling!

Thank you Saskia!
You don’t look like you were defeated by rain and humidity in these photos, and a cute black and white look is always a good idea! So glad we got to catch up this weekend :)
Chic on the Cheap
Me too- we had fun! Thanks so much for taking my photos!
I love this outfit! I can’t wait to see that you filmed there :)
Thank you Maru! The video is up now! :)
I had heard how hot is was over there! That was a good move wearing loose pieces. Btw, I love your black and white look! You are so chic :)
You are so sweet Jenmarie :) Thank you!

Thank so much! :D
This is such a chic look! It’s always a great thing when comfort and style align so well.
Thank you Shenneth! Yes, even if I was hot, at least I was comfortable :)
It’s crazy how we were hit with a heat wave the first week of September. You made a great call with this look. I was also invited to the RS party but passed on going cause I just didn’t feel like dealing with the scene.

I know, last year it was so nice weather-wise during fashion week, so that heat wave was a surprise! Yeah, the scene was a bit much, but I got to see some blogger friends, which was the main reason I went :)
you look beautiful!!
Thank you Jane! :)
Love the look, Nnenna! And so fancy that you went to the rewardStyle party! I love the Empire Hotel, and from the video, it looked amazing! I can’t wait to hear all about it! :)
Thanks Jessica! :) Yes, we definitely need to catch up soon- how’s next weekend looking for you?
Love this look! (And that gorgeous ring is all kinds of amazing.) You so don’t look like you’d just gone through all the trouble you wrote about. Ever stylish and put-together!
