As you might have guessed, I still have a few outfit pictures that were taken in California. It’s nowhere near this sunny and warm in NYC right now! When I go home, I always overpack. I still travel pretty light (I only took a carry-on for my 12-day trip), but somehow I forget that when I get home, I spend 90% of the time in my jammies. Since it was the holidays, I wanted to pack a couple dressy options for social events, including this little black dress.
The back of this dress totally sold me. When I saw it at Nordstrom Rack, I liked its simplicity. Then I turned it around and saw that it had a really pretty back. I bought it for my fall capsule wardrobe because I thought it would be a versatile piece and I’ve worn it many times since I bought it. It has a loose fit, which makes it so easy to wear, and I love a long-sleeved dress, particularly in the wintertime.
Just a little housekeeping that I wanted to mention: if you’re on the blog right now, you’ll see that I made a few design tweaks recently. Nothing major, I just changed my header, the picture in the sidebar, and refreshed my about page a little bit. Let me know what you think and/or if you’re having any problems loading the site!

This dress is so pretty! And it looks ultra comfortable.
I’m in the same boat. I always pack too much to visit my parents and yet I rarely wear anything other than sweats!

Thank you Jessica! It’s so comfy- I’m wearing it right now :)
Yes! My goal next time I visit is to take half to two-thirds of what I packed this time.
This dress looks perfect for so many occasions! Love it with that necklace.
Thank you Shenneth! :)
I love that dress! And it looks like it folds up and packs lightly – which is also good news.

Thank you Courtney! Yes, I can roll it into a very small bundle so it’s great for traveling :)
What a cute LBD! And I love the changes you made to the blog Nnenna :)
Thank you Maru! So happy that you like the little tweaks I made :)
I overpack too but am really impressed that you traveled with only a carry on! And I love that dress. I’m always drawn to unique details like that. Happy Monday!
xx
Thank you! I do it because I refuse to pay those baggage fees if I don’t have to! Hope you’re having a great week so far :)
Wow, I can’t believe you only brought a carry on! That would be so hard for me to do. I think the dress looks great on you and the cut out on the back is so pretty!
Flying back and forth between the coasts during college definitely taught me how to pack lighter! Thank you Jenmarie :)
The back of this dress is awesome! I love it! Great choice with the statement necklace. I feel like it fits the dress perfectly.
Thank you! I thought this dress and necklace might make a good match :)
Gotta love a LBD! Love how you styled it :)
Thanks so much Natalie! :)
Cute dress!! The back of it is so interesting and fun!

Hi Taylor- thanks so much for your kind words! I’m happy you found my blog as well and I can’t wait to check out yours :)
I do love a long-sleeve dress! They are quite nice to have during the other three seasons of the year. The back on this one really does add just the right amount dressiness.
Chic on the Cheap
Thanks Lydia! I love that I can wear it as is to a party, or I can cover up the back and wear it to the office :)
